The Guild of Master Craftsmen and Find A Craftsmen have announced a new event designed to celebrate excellence in craftsmanship. The Celebrate British Craft exhibition will take place from 8th-19th May at London's Gallery@Oxo and will showcase a range of traditional and contemporary skills involved in creating handmade and machine-made work. The initiative also aims to raise awareness of the importance of preserving British craft for future generations.
The engaging exhibition will highlight quality and expertise across a range of traditional crafts, with a host of makers on hand to demonstrate their skills. This will include working with green wood, furniture-making and contemporary interior design. Winning entries from the Woodturner of the Year competition will also be displayed.
Run in association with Axminster Tools & Machinery, The British Woodturner of the Year award will be announced on Thursday 9th May. There are three categories: young woodturners, amateur woodturners and professional woodturners. Visit www.celebratingbritishcraft.com for more information.
