Cosy Owl celebrates 4th anniversary

Online craft supplier, Cosy Owl, best known for its candle making products, is celebrating four years as a company this month, reporting a £3,213,529 million pound turnover this year, up 28 per cent from this time last year.

Cosy Owl Managing Director, Richard Fewings, who launched the brand in 2017, says sales growth for the Essex-based company really took off in 2020: "From March 2020 to March 2021, we saw a significant uplift of new customers. There was a 300 per cent increase in hobbyist candlemakers registering for accounts compared to the previous year."

Speedball announces new distribution agreement

Speedball Art Products Co. today announced a distribution agreement in the UK with the leading Art & Craft distributor, West Design Products. Beginning 1st January 2022, West Design Products will become the new and exclusive distributor for the brand locally, taking over the responsibility of existing Speedball's customers as well as further developing Speedball's presence in the UK. "We are very excited to rely on the West team to further grow our brand and footprint into the British Educational, Fine-Art and Craft markets" says Dave Valliere, Vice President of Marketing & Business Development at Speedball Art. Award-winning stitching shows return in spring 2022

Sewing for Pleasure, Fashion & Embroidery and The Scottish Quilting Show will return to major cities across the UK in Spring 2022, following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. UK consumers spending more with small businesses due to social media, research reveals

New research from American Express Shop Small shows that social media has driven UK consumers to spend more with small businesses in the last 12 months.With social media being key for businesses and customers to stay connected and engaged during the pandemic, nearly three-quarters (72%) of UK adults who follow more small businesses on social media now than they did 12 months ago are spending more with them. In total, UK consumers have spent £3.7 billion with small businesses they follow on social media in the last year.

HarperCollins acquires Pavilion Books Company

Following HarperCollins announcement on 29th October of its intention to acquire Pavilion Books Company Limited the company can now confirm that the acquisition is now complete. Imprints Collins & Brown, Pavilion, Portico, Robson, National Trust and Pavilion Children's have now transferred to HarperCollins. The Batsford and Pitkin imprints have been retained by owner and publisher Polly Powell as B.T. Batsford, which remains a stand-alone privately-owned business. Pavilion's adult non-fiction publishing joins HQ and Mills & Boon as Pavilion, National Trust publishing joins Collins Learning while the children's list is now part of Farshore.

CHSI Stitches announces green theme
