The GA and CIA merge

The Giftware Association is pleased to announce that as of 22nd June it's taken over the operational, management and memberships activities of the Creative Industry Association. Both associations have huge synergies with their respective industries which will benefit the members of both associations with newly added skill and resource. This means the Creative Industry Association, and of course its members, are now part of a much larger organisation, which will help secure the associations future, with greater resources, greater support, and opportunities for all members and vice versa.

New trade show - The Knit Show

UK Hand Knitting has announced a new trade show, The Knit Show, which will be held at The Pavilions of Harrogate on the 3rd and 4th of September, 2022. Even before Covid, exhibitions had become a little formulaic, less inspiring than they should have been and held in venues that lack personality and cost the earth. The members at UK Hand Knitting feel it is time to change things with an event that will not be your normal show, but something significant to inspire, motivate and most of all enjoy.

WTTB launches new artworking service to support resellers

An easy-to-use design service has been introduced by one of the UK's leading online print platforms, giving its resellers the opportunity to boost their business and increase capacity. As part of its continued growth, WTTB has now unveiled Artworker+, an additional offering for any customers who have to outsource their design or don't currently offer that facility. And it means that users will have a creative team of experts on tap, without the overheads of taking on more staff and still be able to expand their businesses.

Entries invited for The Fine Art Textiles Award 2022

Now in its fourth year, The Fine Art Textiles Award is an international juried exhibition open to all amateur and practising artists using textiles as their primary medium. The award recognises the creative talents and skills of a broad community of high-calibre artists producing gallery-quality fine art. The winner will be announced at The Awards Ceremony at The Festival of Quilts at the NEC Birmingham on Thursday 18th August at 12.30pm, with a £5,000 prize awarded.

Creative Craft Show returns

The award-winning Creative Craft Show will return to major cities across the UK this autumn bringing supply shopping and workshops to crafters in Farnborough, Exeter, Glasgow, and Birmingham. From September to November, these shows celebrate the world of creativity bringing the latest supplies, techniques and inspiration to dressmakers, crafters, quilters across the country. Visitors to The Creative Craft Show can dive into yarn, sewing and dress making demonstrations and practical workshops as well as papercraft, jewellery making and felting features.

One Week Until London Stationery Show 2022

BCTF 2022 Award Winners

The 2022 BCTF Award winners were announced on Monday April 11th in an emotional ceremony that saw the amazing British craft community raise a glass together for the first time since 2019. The award sponsors included some of the UK's greatest champions of British crafts and consistent supporters of the British Craft Trade Fair, an event which is unique for its exclusive focus on handmade British products and inspires great loyalty amongst exhibitors and retailers alike. The incredibly eclectic mix of talented designers and partnerships who make up the BCTF community once again ensured that deciding upon the winners was an extremely difficult task. Along with excellence of design (rich on the ground at BCTF!) many judges were moved by the compelling personal stories they heard from exhibitors and the powerful emotion they were able to channel into work of an exceptional quality and resonance

What’s on at London Stationery Show 2022?

London Stationery Show is back in just under five weeks' time as the UK's only event dedicated to the paper and writing instruments industry returns to its usual spring dateline. The show is set to host its best line-up yet, as 150+ brands ranging from internationally renowned suppliers to independent boutique designers head to the UK capital to meet with over 1,800 stationery and gift buyers.The London Stationery Show team are delighted to share some of the exciting features taking place at this year's show. It is incredibly important for independent retailers to not only meet with big stationery brands but also have the opportunity to source unique, original products for their customers. The show is also focused on fostering retailer development; consequently, many of the features are centered on helping business owners enhance their potential through education. Crafterama at Ally Pally

The very first Crafterama @ Alexandra Palace in London, originally planned for 2020, took place on 12-13th March, 2022. The show was a great success with lots of demonstrations and make and takes running throughout the weekend. The show included art stamps, die cutting, card & paper, glitter art, needle felting plus more crafting goods. Alexandra Palace is a beautiful and iconic venue overlooking London with lots of parking and wonderful views. A lovely place to visit! The 2023 dates have already been set - 11-12th March - when the event will be even bigger and better.
