Crafter’s Companion invests in new warehouse

Crafter's Companion is unveiling the look of its new Newton Aycliffe-based UK warehouse. The dedicated 54,000 sq foot, nine metres high pallet-racking space will enable the business to house 4,000 pallets of products. The warehouse will support the team's ability to meet the growing demand for crafting items with their customers across the UK, Europe and USA. In addition to increased space, the warehouse features 3,000 sq feet of office area and two dock loading doors, alongside modern staff facilities, including large training and breakout spaces, showers and changing rooms. The investment will also create new opportunities for the company and the local Newton Aycliffe area.

Cosy Owl celebrates 4th anniversary

Online craft supplier, Cosy Owl, best known for its candle making products, is celebrating four years as a company this month, reporting a £3,213,529 million pound turnover this year, up 28 per cent from this time last year.

Cosy Owl Managing Director, Richard Fewings, who launched the brand in 2017, says sales growth for the Essex-based company really took off in 2020: "From March 2020 to March 2021, we saw a significant uplift of new customers. There was a 300 per cent increase in hobbyist candlemakers registering for accounts compared to the previous year."

November 15th revealed as the UK’s most popular day for crafts

With Halloween now around the corner, arts and crafts enthusiasts are set to scour the internet for the most original "DIY" pieces to show off, and certain days of the year feel craftier than others, a new study has found. The study, conducted by Design Bundles found that last year Halloween, with an average of 14,800 searches per month, was the second most popular holiday based on the volume of internet searches for crafts inspired by the event, second only to Christmas, which received 18,100 monthly searches.

Cats Protection is releasing 5000 exclusive needle felting kits to create festive cat baubles. Designed by craft experts The Makerss, the kits contain all you need and can be colour matched to your own cat.Everyone who purchases a kit will be invited to a virtual craftalong on Facebook at 10am on Saturday 27th November, where they will be guided through creating a beautiful felted bauble by an expert from The Makerss. The kits cost £20 with £10 going towards Cats Protection's work to help the UK's in-need cats and kittens. For example, £10 could de-flea and de-worm a stray cat brought into the charity's care, or provide an abandoned cat with a warm and cosy bed while they wait to be rehomed.

Captain Sir Tom Moore inspires donation of £60,000 by Bachmann Europe

On Thursday 9th September 2021, Bachmann Europe visited the GB Railfreight/EMD Roberts Road Rail Maintenance Depot in Doncaster where Class 66 No. 66731 'Capt. Tom Moore' was in residence. Earlier this year the Bachmann Collectors Club released its Pride of Britain Train Pack, celebrating the astonishing fundraising achievements of Captain Sir Tom Moore and honouring the outstanding efforts of the NHS and all key workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. During the visit Bachmann presented a cheque for £60,000 which will be donated to NHS Charities Together, and a presentation was conducted by Keith Thomas, Financial Controller for Bachmann Europe Plc and Paul Matthews, Head of Locomotives for GB Railfreight.
