PENTEL GOES BEHIND THE SCENES OF BREAST CANCER RESEARCH

Posted by Rachel Westall on 13 October 2026

Pentel UK recently visited the Breast Cancer Now Toby Robins Research Centre at The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) in London, gaining a fascinating first-hand insight into the pioneering research being carried out to improve the lives of people affected by breast cancer. For Pentel and their guest James Taylor, Managing Director at Cardzone - Clintons, the visit provided a valuable opportunity to see behind the scenes at one of the UK’s leading breast cancer research centres and understand more about the impact of the support generated through its 20-year partnership with Breast Cancer Now.

PENTEL group in medical white coats Breast Cancer Now supports around 100 scientists at the research centre from many different fields, to change what we know about the disease and how we treat it. Being next to the Royal Marsen Hospital, researchers work closely with clinicians to help translate discoveries made in the laboratory into improved treatments for people with breast cancer.

Pentel has been a corporate partner of Breast Cancer Now since 2006 and has raised over £1.74 million for the charity through sales of its special edition pink-barrelled EnerGel pen. For every pen sold, Pentel donates £0.25 to Breast Cancer Now. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer in women in the UK, with 55,000 women and around 400 men diagnosed each year, while around one in seven women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. Breast Cancer Now is working towards a bold vision that by 2050, everyone with breast cancer will live and live well.

Wendy Vickery, Marketing Manager at Pentel said: "We had a wonderful and incredibly informative visit to the Breast Cancer Now Toby Robins Research Centre. It was fascinating to see first-hand the innovative research taking place behind the scenes, and to gain a greater understanding of the dedication involved in tackling breast cancer. It was particularly rewarding to see how the funds raised through our partnership with Breast Cancer Now contributes to this vital work, and to understand the difference that our continued fundraising can help make. "We were especially glad to invite James Taylor from Cardzone – Clintons to join us, and we are immensely grateful for the ongoing support of everyone at Cardzone. Their enthusiasm, passion and commitment drives us to even higher fundraising goals for Breast Cancer Now"

Dr Kotryna Temcinaite, senior research and impact communications lead at Breast Cancer Now said: "It was a pleasure to show the team from Pentel UK and James Taylor from Cardzone-Clintons around our research centre and share more about the vital work being carried out by our scientists to better understand breast cancer and improve outcomes for people affected by the disease. We say a big thank you and are incredibly grateful to Pentel for their long-standing support and the remarkable £1.74 million they have raised for Breast Cancer Now over the past 20 years. Together, we can make change happen and work towards our bold vision that by 2050, everyone with breast cancer will live and live well."
