New consumer craft show unveiled: Image 1 A new consumer craft show has been announced by Upper Street Events. Taking place at London's Business Design Centre, The Stitch Festival will take place from 27th February – 1st March 2020.

Formerly known as the Spring Knitting & Stitching Show, the event will feature a varied workshop programme, with more than 200 classes taught by leading tutors. Crafts will include sewing, crochet, knitting, embroidery, dressmaking, needle felting, patchwork, fabric painting, basket weaving and papercraft. Dressmaking will also play an important role, with a dedicated workshop schedule and competitions themed around eveningwear, knitwear and upcycling.

The Festival's Stitch Stage will host a daily upcycling challenge, with teams of contestants battling against the clock to transform an old item of clothing into a new garment.

Fashion designer and TV judge Esme Young will host an exhibition of her film costume designs, with movie credits including Bridget Jones's Diary, Trainspotting and 28 Days Later. Other highlights will include a display by embroidery artist Olga Prinku, a selection of Kaffe Fassett's Cotswold quilts and an exhibition of mid-century textiles by Dovecot Studios.
