Encounter the new Noro packaging and you'll notice one of the big changes right away: a beautiful black-and-white ribbon encircling the yarn. The ribbon features Japanese text (translating to 'World of Nature') and is, says Knitting Fever's COO, Jeffrey Denecke, “similar to a seal of Noro authenticity that needs to be broken to unwrap the yarn.” (The ribbon is also reusable, making it both eco-friendly and fun.) Just as important, the ribbon is intended to emphasise the beauty and value of the yarn it surrounds. By wrapping each ball of yarn “like a gift to be opened,” in Denecke's words, the ribbon is a nod to the importance of presentation and wrapping in Japanese culture.

In Japan, how a gift is presented is often as important as the gift itself. Carefully wrapping an item, whether a gift or even something purchased at a store, symbolizes the importance of the item and transforms an everyday object into something special. Take a moment to appreciate the elegance of the wrapping before you dive into your latest project in beautiful, natural Noro yarns.
