CRAFTERS UNITE FOR SHAUN THE SHEEP’S 30TH ANNIVERSARY

Crafters from across the UK and around the world came together at The Mills Fabrica in King’s Cross, London, to mark Shaun the Sheep’s 30th anniversary with a community knit-a-thon like no other. Hosted by Aardman in partnership with British Wool, Campaign for Wool, and Craft Forward, the event celebrated the finale of the “Can Ewe Knit It?” global crafting initiative, which invited fans to knit or crochet a 20 x 20cm Shaun-inspired square for good.

SHAUN THE SHEEP knitted squares Hundreds of handmade squares were stitched together on-site by volunteers, creators, and hobbyists to create blankets for unhoused people across London. Emily Jones, Brand & Insights Manager at Aardman, said: "For three decades, Shaun has inspired creativity and joy. With "Can Ewe Knit It?" we wanted to celebrate that spirit by connecting people through craft and compassion. The creativity and care shown by makers around the world has been truly ewe-nique."

The event also shone a spotlight on British Wool's support for local farmers and sustainable fibre, with all materials for the project made from 100% British wool, donated by West Yorkshire Spinners.

Elena Lo Presti, Craft Forward Director added: "Our workshops allow communities to take action and use their skills to make a positive change, and we did just that with this event. Every square knitted or crocheted today will be stitched into a blanket that will bring warmth and dignity to people that need it the most."
