Nation invited to Mind charity’s virtual crafting workshop

This Good Friday afternoon (10th April), households up and down the country are invited to come together online for the nation’s craftiest fundraiser, Crafternoon. With everyone spending a lot more time at home to help keep safe, mental health charity Mind is hosting a virtual spin-off of their popular crafting event to encourage people to do something creative and for their own wellbeing, whilst raising money for better mental health

Nation invited to Mind charity’s virtual crafting workshop: Image 1 Virtual Crafternoon will take place via Zoom at 16:00 on Friday, and anyone can take part. All that's needed is some basic supplies to make the rainbow origami stars – coloured paper, a ruler or something with a straight edge, and thread - and a tablet, computer or smartphone. Mind will provide the template, tips and online guidance for creating the crafty masterpiece.

This is the perfect time to get creative and see what materials are lying around the house; a great opportunity to recycle those cardboard toilet roll tubes or finished cereal boxes. Virtual Crafternoon is free, with a suggested donation to Mind to help fund vital services in England and Wales for those experiencing a mental health problem, at a time when it is needed more than ever.

The charity are already facing huge demand for advice and information about staying well and looking after your mental health over the coming weeks, as well as needing to support local Minds to adapt their services and keep the Infoline and legal line running.

Maria Khosla, Community Fundraising Manager at Mind, says: "This is a crucial time for the nation's mental health, as our lives continue to be affected in lots of different ways, so it is as important as ever that we look after our wellbeing.
"Virtual Crafternoon is the perfect excuse to take some time to do something fun, creative and relaxing, whilst helping to make a difference and fund Mind's vital support services. Absolutely anyone can take part, regardless of whether you have crafted before. It's so easy to join in, using any supplies to hand. Use your imagination, perhaps this is the time to upcycle those cardboard toilet roll tubes!
"Every donation we receive from virtual Crafternoon will help us to reach those in need, at a time when we need to protect, support and save the lives of even more people experiencing poor mental health."
