Creativation, the highly-anticipated annual tradeshow and conference for the creative industries hosted by The Association For Creative Industries (AFCI) will look quite different in 2021. Along with transitioning to a virtual event to support the safety of its members and attendees, AFCI is excited to co-locate with The International Art Materials Trade Association (Namta®). This virtual event, taking place 15th-19th March, 2021 will bring together the two associations and their flourishing and complementary networks of suppliers, buyers, designers, creators, and more, as well as foster new opportunities for expanded audiences to participate in the event which traditionally takes place in North America each year.

Hale Events, the event organisers based in the south west has accessed a £250k CBILS loan from Funding Circle. Funding Circle is a peer-to-peer network and one of the best-capitalised lending platforms in the world. They're accredited by the Government-owned British Business Bank to provide loans under the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS).Hale Events organise a mix of shows in the SW region, mainly for trade buyers of Gifts and Food & Drink, so increased staycations will mean increased business, but only once they overcome the challenges that Covid-19 has presented to the events sector. The organisation remains optimistic and, with their main events postponed until May and June of 2021, can see light at the end of the tunnel.

He was inspired by the beautiful and exotic nature of European and Japanese yarns and by the talented textile artists he met. Craft Focus caught up with Jeffrey J Denecke Jr, chief operating officer of Knitting Fever Inc. to talk about the impressive choice of brands they look after and how they have helped retailers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Crafter's Companion is celebrating the unveiling of a brand-new studio area for its global digital platform, Crafter's TV. The new space in the North East of England, houses two state-of-the-art studios and a green room, in addition to pre and post production rooms. With people spending more time at home this year, Crafter's TV has seen a surge in demand for its service. The platform's international viewers have outgrown its UK viewers, with audiences tuning in from countries such as Germany, Australia, Canada and the United States. The shows regularly experience viewers commenting at 3am in California, to after midnight in Australia. The digital channel has created a bigger and better studio space than ever before, to meet the needs of its ever-growing online craft community.

A new three-day virtual laser exhibition will take place between 26th-28th January, 2021. 'Trotec UK Live' will be the first virtual exhibition of its kind. The interactive event will focus on all things laser cutting, marking and engraving. With 17 interactive sessions including live product demonstrations, a materials workshop, customer interviews and informative webinars on topics such as print & cut, photographic engraving, how to finance a laser machine, plotters vs galvo lasers, and the differences between glass and ceramic laser sources, to name but a few.
