From 15th - 21st October 2012, National Knitting Week returns - Start planning now to make the most of the event.
Launched in 2005 by the UK Hand Knitting Association and Knitting magazine, Knitting Week aims to bring together knitting enthusiasts across the country through hosted special events, so to make sure you don't miss out, why not plan a crafty activity of your own and involve the whole community? Not only will it encourage more customers into your store and cement its place as a creative hub of the town, but it will also help to show more people how much fun knitting can be.
Chris Kingdom from the UKHKA said: "The aim is to raise awareness and the profile of knitting as a hobby, introducing it to people as well as unifying the existing knitting community and bringing like-minded people closer together to celebrate their love of knitting.
"People hold all sorts of events from sponsored knits and craft sales, to trying to break records and holding workshops to introduce people to the skill.
Retailers will be encouraged to pass on the news about the week to their customers and get behind the campaign with events and perhaps some marketing incentives to generate good sales leading up to and during the week.
There is a multitude of different ways to get involved with National Knitting Week, from hosting activities, organising a special day out or even sponsoring a large event.”
This year National Knitting Week runs at the same time as The Campaign for Wool's 'Wool Week', and which will mean even more opportunities to raise the profile of knitting. Get ready for National Knitting Week
