78 Stitch sisters Sisters Caroline, Julie and Sally look after cosy, community knitting shop, Christine’s of Bournville and the newer online division of the business, City Knits. Caroline talks us through both sides of the business Tell us a bit about City Knits, when did it open and by who? City Knits, also known as Christine’s of Bournville opened its doors in 1976 by our late mother Christine. When she passed away in 2008, her three daughters Julie, Sally and I took over the running of the shop and opened the online store www.cityknits.co.uk Tell us a bit about your location! We are set in the heart of the beautiful village of Bournville, Birmingham and really are a destination shop - right next to the Cadbury’s factory and in a parade of bustling shops. There are excellent transport links to the city centre also. How has business been since the Covid restrictions lifted? Business has been varied. There are still some customers who are frightened to come out and about. We offered a click and collect option during covid which some customers continue to use still.
