Craft Focus - December 2021/January 2022 (Issue 88)

What can visitors expect from Toy Fair 2022? Well, the most important thing is that Toy Fair is back! After such a long break we’re so excited to be returning to Olympia London in January 2022. Like with previous years, there will be more than 260 exhibitors, from the biggest brands in the business including LEGO, Playmobil UK and VTech/Leapfrog, right through to start-up companies exhibiting for the very first time. It’ll be one of, if not the first opportunities of the year for visitors to get ahead of the trends and handson with the hottest toys and games for 2022. If you’ve not been before, Toy Fair provides visitors with a real overview and insight into a fun, innovative and exciting industry! It’s a great setting in which to meet the toy industry, network with peers, and make new contacts. What changes have been made to make the event as safe as possible post-pandemic? The health and safety of our exhibitors and visitors is our number one priority. Our current guidelines are that everyone at the show will have to provide proof of either double vaccination or a negative lateral flow or PCR test within 48 hours of attending the show. We’ll also be providing plenty of hand sanitiser stations around the halls. There are some elements of Toy Far which are on hold for this year, especially those that attract crowds. There will be no Influencer Day, Demo Zone or sadly Toy Fair TV. On-site social distancing will be maintained where possible and visitors will be guided safely into Olympia to prevent crowding or bottlenecking. As well as the main entrance by the Grand Hall we’ll also have a second entrance this year next to the National Hall, to help prevent any congestion when entering the show. Are there any competitions/ workshops or seminars to watch or attend? I’m pleased to confirm that Toy Fair’s Hero Toys will return for 2022. Toy Fair’s Hero Toys are the must-see products that we predict will drive the business and generate the headlines in 2022 and beyond. While things will be different for 2022, the good news is that our exhibitors will still be able to host their own events on their stands. These are still being created so the best way to find out what’s happening is to register to visit Toy Fair and come and see for yourself! Are there any new exhibitors you’re excited to welcome? We’ve got some exciting new exhibitors this year who you can find in the Greenhouse area at the show. The Greenhouse is a dedicated area to smaller/start-up companies with fresh and innovative products. In here make sure you pay a visit to newcomers Mr Hullaballoo, Fabula Toys and Felix Europe Bv. How can exhibitors and visitors sign up? For all information on what’s happening at Toy Fair and how to register, visit www.toyfair.co.uk and you can also keep up to date on Twitter @ToyFairUK.
