85 PROFILE FESTIVE FABRICS Bastion Wollmann talks all things Christmas at Zweigart! Tell us a little bit about the company. Where are you based? When did the company start? ZWEIGART was founded in 1877 and has more than 140 years of tradition and history in weaving premium needlework fabrics. We believe to be the world’s leading brand for high quality needlework fabrics with a one-of-a-kind range. We’re based in Sindelfingen, which is in the south part of Germany, near the city of Stuttgart. The company was founded by Mr. Paul Zweigart and Mr. Julius Sawitzki (Zweigart & Sawitzki GmbH & Co. KG) in 1877 – therefore the brand name Zweigart. Christmas is coming – what does that mean for Zweigart? Christmas time is definitely stitching season and time to embroider something for yourself or your loved ones as a present. We’re facing a very high demand for our fabrics – and especially in winter when people are staying home and are looking for something creative and cosy to do. Stitching fits in perfectly and anything hand-made is a nice and personalised present for someone you love! Tell us a bit about your newest brochure for the festive period! We’ve just published a lovely new needlework idea book (Christmas #104/324) with Christmas designs which will inspire your stitching and includes lovely seasonal charts. What colour themes do you like in particular for Christmas? Christmas season for Zweigart means a big demand for traditional shades like green and red, but also sparkling fabrics are very much in demand! Zweigart offers a range of colours for Christmas: gold, silver and opalescent shades sell really well and also our dotted or vintage prints are great for any Christmas design. What has been a customer favourite in 2021? This is really difficult to say as almost our full collection has been selling really well due to a very high demand worldwide and many people staying at home. Our famous linens like Belfast 32ct. or Cashel 28ct., Evenweaves like Lugana 25ct. or Murano 32ct. as well as monks cloth for punch needle work have been quite popular! Of course, also aida fabrics in different counts are always a bestseller. What are your plans for the new year? We’re already working on our spring collection and Zweigart is known for its constant innovation. We will launch a lovely designer book, a needlework idea on flowers together with many new exciting fabric colours for 2022. All of this will be introduced at the H&H fair in spring 2022! What words of wisdom do you have for our readers? Stay calm and stitch – in these special times it’s important to balance yourself and a creative hobby like embroidery fits in perfectly. It’s calming, can be done at home (hopefully also in groups again) and brings peace to body and mind. It has been proven that embroidery reduces stress and enhances your creativity. You can find lots of inspiration for your hobby in our fabrics and book range and Zweigart fabrics help to deliver perfect results! ZWEIGART +49 (7031)-795-421 info@zweigart.de www.zweigart.de
