These can be created in many different ways. Currently Michael’s Bridal Fabrics has fabrics like laces and Italian embroideries plus various plain fabrics that are made partly or fully from recycled yarns. These include tulle, Mikado, satin and crepes. There are other French lace qualities that use organic cotton and viscose where the trees used to make the viscose are replaced with new trees. There are also a lot of naturel fabrics (in naturel ivory colour) which are made from oranges, banana, corn, aloe vera, rose petal and even milk! Customers like the very soft feel that most of these types of yarns seem to create and the company expects to see a substantial increase in the number of eco-friendly products that will appear on the market over the next two to three years. The price gap between recycled and non-recycled seems to be getting smaller, and think that within five years a significant proportion of the new qualities we introduce will have environmentally friendly aspects to their production.
