Craft Focus - Dec/Jan (Issue 76)

101 TRENDS Tell us a little about The Pattern Preacher. The Pattern Preacher is a new premium sewing brand that was launched in November 2019. The initial collection features six luxury womenswear patterns, with specifically sourced fabric bundles for each design. Talk us through the range. The first garments available will be essentials aimed at beginners and those with a little more experience. Retailers can expect on- trend, current shapes that empower women to take control of their wardrobes with looks that are tailored to their specific needs. The range includes four styles of dress, one trouser and a jacket, providing everything dressmakers need to create a full capsule collection with simple adjustments. For example, if you would like to make a jumpsuit with a palazzo-style leg and Bardot top, simply take our trouser pattern and add to the top of the Gabby dress. All our designs can be varied in this way. Who do you see as your end user? We’re producing our first batch of patterns for those who would like to create their own luxurious yet accessible wardrobe staples, all easy to make and wear. How do you see the brand developing throughout 2020? There will be a further collection of patterns coming next year, including additional wardrobe essentials and other designs, but we’re keeping things under wraps for now. We’ll also be focusing on customer service, including the launch of a chat facility where we can respond to queries within an hour. We want to be there to help every step of the way. With consumers increasingly focused on sustainability, do you think the trend for making your own clothes is one that’s likely to become more popular? Yes, I think so, and this is definitely a marketing angle that we’ll be looking into. Crafters take pride in creating their own clothes, and there’s also a need for the planet to sustain itself by cutting down on mass production. Our patterns are all manufactured in Great Britain, and half our packaging is already eco-friendly. Do you offer marketing support to retailers? We sell patterns and fabrics for both online and physical stores. We can also provide a free finished garment when a retailer buys 10 units of a single design. How will The Pattern Preacher fit into the existing market? We want to be set apart from the crowd. Our patterns have all been designed and worked on by a business with extensive knowledge in this area. We see our first launches as fashion- forward staples, while our 2020 designs will be very different to others already on the market. P OFILE thepatternpreacher.com
