Craft Focus - Feb/Mar (Issue 71)

What do you look for in a retail partner? We look for partners who want to work with us to give their customers the best of what Hunkydory has to offer. We are also happy to share their experience of what works and what doesn’t with regards to our range. How would you advise a retailer who would like to stock Hunkydory products? I’d talk to them to understand their customer base and offer the goods that will work best for them. I’d suggest a selection of both our core products such as Prism ink pads, Adorable Scoreable card and Adorable Scoreboard, together with some of our fashion lines that can be sold through and replaced with newer items. Do you offer any sales and marketing support to retailers? We supply product images and copy for our partners through our trade website, with discounts across many of our lines. We are also starting to roll out our demonstration programme further in 2019. What do you think will be the next big trends in papercraft? I think this will be another exciting year for papercraft. Products that work together or complement each other will drive the market forward and allow retailers to stock coordinated ranges, with end users making beautiful cards and projects with ease. Are there any major new launches coming up that you’d like our readers to know about? Following the incredible feedback we’ve received for Adorable Scoreboard we have decided to launch a smaller version, perfect for on-the-go projects and less spacious workspaces. We will also be bringing out a cutting mat that fits inside the product. Do you think the craft industry has changed in recent years? It has changed enormously, with the expansion of TV selling, internet-only retailers and platforms like Amazon and eBay all gaining strength. The speed that we can now communicate new launches and special offers to our retail partners is almost instantaneous. However, providing quality items for our consumers is still at the core of our business. How do you see Hunkydory evolving in the years to come? The company will continue to look at what our customers want and develop products to suit this need. We love being a trend developer in what has become a fabulous and creative industry. I see us further developing our Premier Craft Tools brand and the Prism colour range. There will also be new Moonstone dies. craft focus 33 interview
