FLORADECORA BLOOMS AGAIN Floradecora, the marketplace for fresh flowers and ornamental plants, returned to Christmasworld for the second time this January. One of this year’s highlights was the eye-catching sight of 40,000 long- stemmed red roses, presented by the Dutch grower and importer, de Ruiter. Flower and gift specialists, 2Dezign, also created a special show called The Loft, which included gorgeous floral arrangements on the stairs of the exhibition itself. This year’s themes included ‘vivid heritage’, which made use of bold, brightly-coloured blooms like dahlias, hydrangeas and lilac blossom, and ‘balanced sobriety’, set against a background of grass, wood and pine cones. Also hitting the headlines was ‘eclectic gathering’ which featured cherry blossom, lilies, larkspur and sweet peas, and ‘splendid history’, characterised by exotic monstera, agave and palm. Holland’s Dümmen Orange presented a range of new concepts, which simplify the process of displaying, giving and selling flowers and green plants. “There is nothing you cannot do with flowers,” says Rochus Hassefras, Marketing Manager. “You can reinforce every fashion and satisfy all tastes. Flowers and plants offer so much in terms of colour and character and they can be prepared to suit every trend.” To inspire visitors, Royal Flora Holland handed out green-tinted glasses at the show. RFH is the world’s largest marketing organisation for flowers and plants, with more than 4,300 growers on its books. The group also displayed flesh-eating plants under glass, water-plants in bottles and a miniature ZZ plant with bare roots dipped in wax. Next year’s Floradecora takes place from 25th-29th January.
