The collection arrives just in time for autumn and hosts 10 talented designers ready to inspire with yarns . Arranmore Light is a DK weight yarn that follows the original Aran weight of the same blend. Eighty per cent merino wool, 10 per cent cashmere, and 10 per cent silk creates an incredibly soft yet warm and lightweight fabric. There’s plenty of texture built into the yarn from the wool nepps, which are small bits of tangled fibres in multiple shades, which are dyed first prior to blending and spinning. The release includes 18 colour shades, with each 100g hank providing 300m (328 yds). The collection draws inspiration from its heritage of tweed, British wool traditions and the luxurious hand, which The Fibre Co. is best known for. The garments offered in the range include six sizes and a variety of shapes, constructions to appeal to the modern knitter. This was a first for Search Press, and a great way for visitors to get up close with five artists, and take a glimpse at the working methods of contemporary art in action. The following artists demonstrated in the North Galleries – Hashim Akib – ‘Vibrant Acrylic Portrait’; Hazel Lale – ‘People in Vibrant Colours’; Julie King – ‘Summer Flowers in Watercolour’; Jane Betteridge – ‘Autumn Glory in Watercolour and Ink’ and Alan Woollett – ‘Fox’s Weaver Bird in Coloured Pencil’ Here’s what one visitor had to say: “Thoroughly enjoyed the day. I was lucky to be able to watch demonstrations by the wonderful watercolour artists, Hazel Lale did a beautifully vibrant portrait and Jane Betteridge painted a lovely blackberry and bindweed picture. I also had the pleasure of watching the amazing portrait demonstration by Hashim Akib. Looking forward to the next Search Press demonstration day,” says Dawn Spink. There was lots of people and interaction with the artists. Search Press plan to do more demo days so do keep an eye on the Search Press Facebook page that’s dedicated to art @searchpressart
