How has the company evolved? It’s evolved so much! The original idea was incredibly simple—I just wanted to make a few bookmarks. I went around Oxford meeting with local bookbinders to learn how leather works, how it bends, folds, holds detail. The more I experimented with this beautiful, sustainable material, the more possibilities I began to see, and the more the company naturally grew. What started as a single bookmark has expanded into an entire line of desk accessories. One notebook turned into several collections. Now we’re even exploring home décor, because the artwork we’ve developed feels much bigger than just stationery. We’ve also noticed customers using our designs in ways we didn’t expect. Our leather trinket boxes, originally made for desk items, are being used as jewellery boxes. A make-up brand recently approached us after falling in love with the shape of our pen cases. That kind of response is incredibly exciting. We’re growing organically, creatively, and with curiosity—and we can’t wait to see where the next 12 months take us. What do you specialise in? We specialise in quality and functionality. When you live in a city with 600-year-old libraries, you gain a deep appreciation for well-made objects—not just because they last, but because they grow more beautiful over time. Leather, for example, develops a rich patina that tells a story. I enjoy experimenting with design, but I work closely with our incredible factories to ensure our standards never slip. Craftsmanship is non-negotiable. Functionality is just as important to me. I’m always thinking about how our products fit into people’s lives—not just aesthetically, but practically. I design with both small workspaces and large home offices in mind. Every piece should feel purposeful, not just decorative. That’s especially true for our notepads and planners. I make sure there’s enough usable space to actually write, and that layouts reflect real life. For example, I’ve never understood weekly planners that shrink the weekend—our Saturdays and Sundays are just as full, if not fuller, than weekdays. So our designs reflect that. Talk us through the current products you’re particularly excited about. Do you have a favourite? We just wrapped up the London Stationery Show, and I was genuinely thrilled to debut our new Sticky Notes Book. For years, I found myself constantly rummaging through drawers for sticky notes, only to find them crumpled or dog-eared, and I never loved those bulky plastic dispensers either. That’s what led to the idea: a sleek, hardback notebook that keeps a range of sticky notes beautifully organized by size, all with elegant borders. It’s practical, pretty, and genuinely solves a daily frustration. It’s quickly become my favorite new product, and I’m so excited to get it into more hands. Hobby & crafts have boomed over the last two years! Have you noticed any new trends? Absolutely! One of the biggest shifts I’ve 49 COMPANY PROFILE
