41 COMPANY PROFILE CICO Books +44 (0)20 7025 2200 Main website: www.rylandpeters.com Dedicated craft website: www.makeetc.com Projects for Children – have both been hugely popular. Simple Machine Sewing recently won ‘Best Sewing Book’ in the Creative Book Awards. How often do you launch new titles? We publish around 20 to 25 craft titles per year across the craft genres. How would you advise a retailer who is interested in stocking your products? We welcome retailers to get in touch with our sales team directly to discuss stocking our products. Retailers can also order our books directly from Search Press and GMC. The in-house marketing team can help with marketing support. What sets you apart from competitors? We’re still a small independent publishing company. We care deeply about our authors and the books they trust us with to publish. We also prioritise attention to detail, not only in the content, which is thoroughly checked, but also in the design and photography to produce books that are a pleasure to look at and to read. Do you visit any trade shows? We exhibit each year at Autumn Fair (our stand is 6M44) meeting existing and prospective retailers from all over the UK. We always ensure to visit as many trade and consumer shows as we can throughout the year as it’s a great opportunity to see what’s trending and source potential authors and designers. What are you looking forward to over the next six months? Our first crochet card deck, Granny Square and Crochet Motif Card and Book Set by Melody Griffiths, which includes 50 cards and a 64-page book in a boxed set, as well as Crocheted Squares, a new book from much-loved author Kate Eastwood (@just_pootling on Instagram). What new titles/products can we expect from you in the future? Crochet continues to be hugely popular, we are working with authors to offer inspiring new patterns for experienced crafters, as well as books aimed at beginners which include comprehensive guides to techniques and achievable projects. We’re also watching the trend for sustainable craft and many of our titles will tap into this – from using spare and second-hand fabric for sewing to ways to make use of stashes of yarn.
