Community Channel's Do Something Brilliant campaign and popular TV show Crafty Beggars have launched a new competition to celebrate arts, crafts and creativity up and down the UK. The competition opens on Wednesday 1st April 2015 and closes on Wednesday 22 April 2015.
From sewing and paper craft to knitting and recycled art, craft enthusiasts can enter Make #SomethingBrilliant by submitting a photograph of their best handmade creation made by themselves, a charity, local community or someone they know. Make #SomethingBrilliant coincides with the premiere of Community Channel's new series, Crafty Beggars.
Presented by Julie Peasgood and Wendy Turner Webster, the show that puts the competition into crafts, pitting contestants against each other to see whose handmade crafts can make the most cash. Alex Kann, Director of Community Channel and Audiences, said: “We're thrilled to be bringing the Crafty Beggars spirit to Community Channel audiences across the UK. We hope viewers will be inspired by the programme to enter Make #SomethingBrilliant and make, knit or sew for a charity, their local community or for someone they know.”
Julie Peasgood, Crafty Beggars presenter, said: “We're delighted to be joining the Community Channel and supporting Do Something Brilliant's Make #SomethingBrilliant competition. Make #SomethingBrilliant is a great opportunity celebrate crafts and the brilliant things that people have made for others.” Wendy Webster Turner, Crafty Beggars presenter, said: "As judges for Make #SomethingBrilliant we'll be looking not only for talent but for flair and imagination. We know there's a huge amount of crafting talent out there and we can't wait for all the entries to come in. Grab some glue, people – there are some big prizes to craft for!”
The winner of Make #SomethingBrilliant will receive £200 worth of Hobbycraft vouchers, a pair of Hobbycrafts Craft Show tickets and one year's subscription to Crafts Beautiful Magazine. Three runners up will receive £100 Hobbycraft vouchers each.
Make #SomethingBrilliant is open to UK residents over the age of 16. The competition opens on Wednesday 1 April 2015 and closes on Wednesday 22 April 2015. Entries will be judges based on technical skill, creativity, innovative use of material and the impact of their craft.
Crafty Beggars premieres on Community Channel on Wednesday 1st April at 9pm with repeats throughout the week, then weekly each Wednesday at 9pm.
