Renowned baking and sugarcraft art show, Cake International was a resounding success, attracting more than 15,000 visitors over three days at the weekend at EventCity in Manchester. Tickets also admitted visitors to the Stitching, Sewing and Hobbycrafts Show, making it the perfect one stop shop for creative hobbyists and cake enthusiasts.
Simon Burns, joint Managing Director of ICHF Events said “We're delighted with the turnout at EventCity over the weekend, with visitors enjoying the wealth of exhibitors, workshops and exciting features on offer. It's always a pleasure to be in Manchester with local, national and international visitors coming along over the three days of the show.”
Making its debut at Cake International was the '50 Shades of Cake' feature by Rose Dummer aka Rosie Cake-Diva and her team of sugarcraft experts. The feature incorporated two life-sized interpretations of Christian Grey, male protagonist of the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy made almost entirely of cake and hand decorated. A former winner of Cake Masters' Magazine Wedding Cake of the Year Award, Rose's high profile designs regularly appear in the press, including her recent life-sized Grenadier Guard cake for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Master chocolatier Will Torrent shared his expert knowledge in the Cake International Theatre taking visitors through delicious recipes to delight even the most serious of chocoholics.
In the Stitching, Sewing & Hobbycrafts show, visitors were able to stock up on essential supplies, learn new skills and pick up tips from over 80 exhibitor stalls selling a wide range of staple and innovative products.
The show also hosted the costumes from hit ITV show Mr Selfridge including exquisite dresses, hats and fur lined coats worn by characters Rose, Lady Mae and Agnes together with the signature outfit worn at the start of the show by Jeremy Piven (Mr Selfridge).
