The Craft & Hobby Association is hosting a TRADE ONLY event for sewing, quilting and fiber in Canada on May 14 & 15, 2012 at the Palomino Ballroom at the Stampede Grounds in Calgary, Alberta. This show is NOT open to the public.
The show is a chance for retailers, educators and designers in this market to meet with and buy from their Canadian suppliers as well as a select number of international suppliers in an intimate relaxed setting. Another show is planned for the fall in Eastern Canada on October 3&4, 2012 in Mississauga, near Toronto, Ontario. If you are interested in exhibiting at the spring or fall show, or have a Canadian distributor for your products that you would like to encourage to exhibit, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 1 519-940-5969 EST for more details.
In addition to the two shows the CHA Canadian membership has worked very closely with CHA staff to develop a new national consumer awareness campaign for sewing called Canada Sews which will launch May 1st 2012. This exciting member initiated program encourages all aspects of sewing including fashion, quilting and home décor. www.CanadaSews.com.
The CHA Canada 2011 Attitude and Usage Study was another CHA initiative and results were just released. The research was a year long study that tracked the buying and usage habits of Canadian craft consumers. Before this study there was no data available for domestic or international companies looking at the Canadian craft market place. Canada has not been as severely hit by the world wide economic crisis and many companies are finding the Canadian market a great place to expand. The study is free to CHA members but can be purchased by non members by contacting Keri Cunningham Marketing Director at email@example.com
