Tollit & Harvey, the UK book, pad and filing manufacturer and distributor, was renamed and re-launched on 1 January as ExaClair Limited - a new name that better reflects the company's position as the UK subsidiary of the multi-million euro Exacompta Clairefontaine Group.
As well as continuing to bring to the market its established brands, including Europa and Guildhall, ExaClair Limited will also now provide customers with access to a further 11,500 products, including over 300 new products being launched from across the group throughout 2011.
The production facility in King's Lynn will also become a UK centre of manufacturing excellence for filing products and looks to further extend its capabilities in manufacturing both branded and private label goods.
The decision to rebrand was driven by the new UK management team that recognised the strength in harnessing the group synergies as Mark Daisley, ExaClair's Managing Director explains: "In the two years since we were acquired, there has been a great deal of 'blue sky' thinking behind the scenes. This has led to a considerable investment in people, machinery, systems and processes to make sure that we leverage the best efficiencies throughout the business to maximise our opportunities as we become a totally integrated part of this prestigious paper-making group. We felt that the Tollit & Harvey name, although well respected in the UK, no longer adequately communicated the fact that we were now part of a multi-million euro international group."
As well as being a practical decision to rebrand at the start of a new year, Mark says that they also wanted to make a bold statement to the market: "We wanted to send a signal to our customers and to the competition that the business has been re-energised, and that we are unambiguous about who we are and what we do."
Brands such as Europa, Guildhall, Goldline and Chartwell will continue to be invested in, and more actively promoted and sold across Europe. Group brands such as Clairefontaine, Rhodia, Exacompta, Decoptach, Quo Vadis, Brause, J. Herbin and G Lalo will now all be available through ExaClair - a single point of contact for over 13,000 products for our customers in the UK and Eire.
Mark says that the impact of being owned by a larger group has been wholly positive: investment in the plant has been ongoing, with new machinery and better technology to further improve service delivery: "We have become even more efficient in what we do in every department," he says. "We are driving out more waste, controlling our costs better and increasing our productivity whilst maintaining and indeed enhancing levels of service. We are also maximising our manufacturing capability and building capacity for future demand, effectively doing more with less."
Continuing this investment theme, ExaClair will be investing in marketing campaigns, both tactical and strategic promotional activity to support the new name and ambition.
See the new company at the Paperworld Fair at the Messe, Frankfurt, 29 January - 1 February 2011. ExaClair will be exhibiting in HALL 3.0 Stand F50 on the Exacompta Clairefontaine Group stand.
