TICKETS ON SALE FOR KNITTING & STITCHING SHOW Tickets have gone on sale for the Knitting & Stitching Show, which runs from 11 th to 14 th October at Alexandra Palace, London. Each year, attendees can learn a range of new skills, while the show’s educational programme offers more than 250 workshops and talks, led by industry experts. The Creative Living Theatre will feature a packed programme of demonstrations by sewing celebrities including Lauren Guthrie from The Great British Sewing Bee, textile artist Jan Beaney and Jean Littlejohn and The Beadworkers’ Guild. A dedicated dressmaking studio will offer classes for all levels, from beginner to professional, and there are drop-in knitting and crochet lessons from volunteers at UK Hand Knitting at The Knitworking Station. In addition, more than 300 exhibitors from across the globe will be selling a range of essential craft supplies. There will also be Textile Galleries by leading artists, graduates and groups, including Caren Garfen, who has created a bedroom installation furnished with hospital and domestic furniture, and Jenni Dutton, whose Dementia Darnings wool portraits trace the story of her mother’s life. John Allen’s Spirit of Place is inspired by the ever-changing British landscape, while Nigel Graham Cheney has produced a series of textile sculptures commemorating World War One and the Naseby Village memorial. Running from 10 th – 12 th August 2018, the event is designed to complement the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. This summer’s show will celebrate the best high-end design and craftmanship, with an opportunity to shop for textiles, jewellery, ceramics, wood and more.
