It’s available in three different sizes and will work with both UK and European light fittings. The finished product measures 20cm x 10cm and can be used either as a pendent or with a suitable table lamp. It’s simple to make, and contains step-by-step photographic instructions. HOW TO USE IT I love to craft in my spare time, but I haven’t tried making a lampshade before, so this was new territory for me. The kit contains two frames and a large sheet of professional- quality lampshade PVC. A length of fabric measuring approximately 640mm x 240mm is also required – I used a space piece left over from another project. I decided to create a table lamp, which means the utility frame needs to be positioned at the bottom. To make the shade, simply spread your chosen fabric pattern-side down on a clean table or work surface. Place the PVC on top and pull away the backing so it sticks to the laminate. It’s already cut to size, which makes this step surprisingly simple. Trim the surplus fabric away, before snapping back the creased edges of the PVC. Wrap double-sided tape around the edges of the frame, then stick carefully to the material. Use a tool to push the fabric ends out of the way. I’m delighted with my finished lamp. It looks very professional and I can’t wait to display it at home. The instructions were easy to follow, even for a beginner, and there’s also a handy demonstration video on the company’s website if you get stuck.
