All of the artworks have been created from scratch by the firm’s in-house design team, and are drawn and painted using a variety of mediums, ensuring an inventive approach. Each print is then transferred onto tinted velvet, bleached and scoured cottons, linens and tapestry cloths, resulting in a dazzling array of colours and textures. A Palace Garden features images inspired by Eltham Palace, where the unexpected mix of Art Deco glamour and traditional English symbolism creates a line filled with rhythm, colour and surprise. The latest fabrics are inspired by the history of the palace, a former royal residence that was transformed into an Art Deco masterpiece in the ‘30s. Designs reflect the rich textiles, decorative treasures, bold geometric motifs and hand painted florals seen there. “New Liberty collections always inspire us,” explains Alice Caroline Garrett. “I’m constantly dreaming of what I can make from beautiful new fabrics. I can’t wait to stitch a dress in Decadent Blooms, which is one of my favourite prints. There are stunning florals and Art Deco influences tied in with the odd surprise.
