craft focus 15 industry news BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN TECH AND CRAFT Craftiv8 is a start up technology and craft company, whose aim is to join technology and traditional crafting. Craftiv8 formed in February 2017 and its first product is Galactic Plastic, which combines a new material with traditional marbling and resin working styles. The company successfully launched the product back in the summer on Hochanda and aim to bring it to a larger audience and continue to expand the range of art and technology crafts. Galactic Plastic started out its life initially in medical devices to help with lower limb conditions such as Hip Dysplasia and Cerebral Palsy. It became Galactic when one of the researchers added in some interesting pigmentation. The one-of-a-kind sculpting material is colourful, flexible, skin safe, low melting and has almost no smell. It’s easy to work with low power heat tools, and bendable at 60 o C and you can marble and change the colour of it at 90 o C and use it with silicone moulds. It has a lot of exciting craft uses and you can view the video and images on the company’s Facebook facebook.com/ galacticplastic or visit the website galacticplastic.co.uk . CSS INDUSTRIES, INC.
