Top fabric trends for 2012 will be anything maritime including fabrics depicting boats, seaside themes and shells. These will be co-ordinated with striped fabrics in traditional nautical colours of red, white and blue. The Westward Ho and Maritime ranges by Prestigious Textiles are good examples of this trend.
As well as maritime fabrics, florals in fresh citrus shades of orange, yellow and lime and contemporary designs will be popular. An example is the Pemberly range of fabrics by Voyage Decoration which is bang on trend and looks great teamed with co-ordinating striped fabrics. Mixing different florals and stripes in the same colour palette will be a key look for 2012.
With the housing market being very slow many people are deciding to revamp their homes rather than move. Projects could include replacing curtains with blinds or shutters for a really contemporary look. Roman blinds and Venetians work well in any room and give a sleek modern feel. Shutters will also be very popular in 2012 and come in a range of finishes to complement any décor.
People will want to inject some colour into their homes in 2012. Replacing old cushions with new ones in various patterns but working in all the same colour palette will give a room a really contemporary feel. Choose one of the colours in the fabrics for an accent shade and add a rug and some accessories or even paint a feature wall in that colour to bring the scheme together.
